Your Caring Classroom
Consider the level of caring you model in your classroom. Incorporating information from the Reading and Key Information throughout this module, design an action plan for how your classroom can become a more caring environment. (If you are not currently in a classroom, consider how you’d do this in a classroom in which you’d likely teach.)
Include your answers to the following questions:
- To what degree do you incorporate positive, supportive, caring behaviors into your classroom?
- What specific ideas (share 2-3) do you have from this module that you can use to build upon the current relationships you have with students.
- How can you show respect for your students?
- What needs of students can you meet by creating a caring classroom?
- How can you use conventions and/or goal setting as a way to create a caring classroom?
- What would someone walking into your classroom see as evidence that you care for and respect your students?
