Creating an Assessment

10 points 1-D-1 Rubric (7/10 points required for a passing grade)


  1. On the SAS Website, go to the Assessments tab and select Assessment Creator. From the pull down boxes, select the subject area and grade level, or course,  that you teach. If you are not currently teaching, select an area of interest to you to locate assessment items. If there are no questions available for your subject area and grade level, or course, select a subject and grade level of interest to you. If you work in early childhood, select a topic within a higher subject and grade (e.g.,  shapes in grade 3 Mathematics.
  2. Using the Assessment Creator, locate 10 questions that align to relevant standards and eligible content statements. Select the questions, and use them to build an assessment
  3. Save the Student version of the assessment to your computer as 1D1_name.pdf (e.g., 1D1_joesmith.pdf)
  4. Submit your assessment using the Assessments tool.


NOTE: If you are unable to locate assessment items relevant to your specific grade level or subject area, search for items from a different subject area with which you could potentially make cross-curricular connections.
